Alexandre Cahen is a pianist, improviser and composer based in Strasbourg (FR).
After completing a bachelor in medical studies, he studies jazz in Strasbourg and in Basel Jazz Campus where he graduates with 2 master’s degrees (performance and composition). As a composer and performer, Alexandre develops a musical language oscillating between jazz, contemporary classical music and free improvisation. He composes and performs his music in different settings (trio, quartet, 10tets, big band…).

Alexandre performs in many formations as leader and sideman: Solemn, Hugo Diaz Quartet, Emilio Giovanoli Quintet, Fred Frith’s International Occasional Orchestra…

In 2023, his composition The Art of Flying is presented at the Schaffhauser Jazzfestival as part of the Music and Climate Crisis conference.  He receives the 1st prize at the competition Un Doua de Jazz and the audience prize at the Avignon Jazz Festival with the Hugo Diaz Quartet.
