Arboria is a new large-ensemble project emerging from the vibrant basel jazz scene, uniting fourteen musicians whose backgrounds span contemporary jazz, classical music, and improvised traditions. At its center is vocalist and composer Patricija Skof, whose original music – lyrical, harmonically rich, and deeply rooted in storytelling – forms the foundation of the ensemble’s sound and was arranged by three young composers and arrangers Sofia Will, Corrado Cerutti, and Alvaro Ocón.

“The Night Is Darkening Around Me” is a single from Luciana Morelli’s album Words of the Wind.
Set to a poem by Emily Brontë, the piece unfolds through a spacious and atmospheric arrangement by Luciana Morelli. The music moves between stillness, fragility and quiet intensity, allowing the text to resonate through a rich palette of voices and instruments.
Refractions
Emilio Giovanoli Quintet

Refractions is the debut album by the Quintet led by bassist and composer Emilio Giovanoli.
Drawing on contemporary jazz, hard bop, impressionist harmony and electronic-inspired rhythmic patterns, the album explores shifting musical perspectives and the changing colours of the Alpine Arc. Its compositions move between luminous melodies, open textures and communicative improvisation.
The project was one of the Swiss Diagonales Jazz 2024 laureates.

Axis of Resonance is a free improvised project, born out of the meeting between the Spanish drummer Jordi Pallarés Barberà and the French pianist Alexandre Cahen.
In Axis of Resonance, the duo develops a space of interaction where simple piano melodies coexist with metallic grumbles, bells tinkling, repetitive patterns, and avalanches of notes.
Through their instruments, Alexandre and Jordi produce together a sound of wood and metal, that can be tender or torn apart. Improvised structures of sonic textures, melodies, and rhythms draw a map without North.
The duo takes the experimentation to the studio, leaving also space for postproduction explorations, putting fragments of improvisation under the microscope, filtering sound through different lenses to give a glimpse of what lies between the notes.
